Disk space map and app uninstaller for Mac

See what fills your Mac. Then free the space.

Cadastre maps your disk in seconds and finds what you can let go: caches, AI models, old installers, forgotten files, and apps with everything they leave behind. Nothing is deleted outright. Everything goes to the Trash.

Cadastre's map of a home folder: Library, Movies, caches and AI models as boxes sized by the space they take

Map and Survey

Every folder, sized at a glance.

The map shows folders as labelled boxes three levels deep and files as tiles sized by the space they take. Survey turns a folder's largest items into orbs beside a checklist: tick what you don't need and move it to the Trash in one go.

  • Fast scans that use every core of your Mac
  • Select with the Finder's keys: ⌘-click, ⇧-click, ⌘A
  • Quick Look, Show in Finder and search by name on any item
  • Suggestions after each scan: installers, disk images and project build folders
Cadastre's Survey of a Downloads folder: installers as orbs, three of them ticked for 7.31 GB

Free space

Find the gigabytes you forgot about.

Three screens list what is safe to clear, measured and ready to tick, without mapping the whole disk first.

Caches

What apps and tools rebuild, measured folder by folder.

  • Each app's cache folder, named after the app
  • Homebrew, npm, pip, Gradle, Go and other package managers
  • Xcode build data, simulators and device support
  • Your own cache folders, added from the map in two clicks
Cadastre's Caches screen listing app caches and package manager caches, four ticked for 5.52 GB

AI Models

The models your AI tools downloaded, by name and size.

  • Ollama models by name and tag, from their manifests
  • Hugging Face, LM Studio, and model files other tools keep
  • Weights shared by several Ollama models move with the last one only
Cadastre's AI Models screen listing Hugging Face, Ollama and LM Studio models, 31 GB in all

Large & Old Files

The big files you forgot, with when you last opened each one.

  • Files of 50 MB or more in your home folder, grouped by kind
  • Show only those left alone for six months, a year or two
  • Apps, the Library and hidden folders stay out of the list
Cadastre's Large & Old Files screen listing videos with where they are and when they changed

Uninstall

Remove apps with every file they leave.

Pick an app and see what it spread across your Mac, ticked and ready: support files, caches, preferences, containers and background items. Leftovers lists what apps you already deleted left behind.

  • Uninstall several apps at once
  • Shared developer containers stay when another app still uses them
  • Apps installed by the App Store or an installer go through the Finder, which asks for your password
Cadastre's Uninstall screen showing Blender and the seven files it would remove, 2.98 GB

Safe by design

Nothing is deleted. Everything goes to the Trash.

Put Back works

Cadastre moves what you pick to the Trash, never past it. Change your mind until you empty the Trash.

It asks first

Every removal lists each item that moves and its size, and waits for your click.

It keeps what matters

The system, your home and Library folders, Documents, Desktop, keys, shell setup and open apps are never offered.

For AI agents

Let your agent find the space, not take it.

Turn on Command-Line Access and the cadastre tool answers what fills a folder, which apps take space and what is safe to clean, with JSON on every command. Anything an agent asks to remove opens a panel with who asks, why and every item. Nothing moves until you click.

Off until you turn it on.

$ cadastre top ~/Downloads --limit 3
    3.7 GB /Users/jamie/Downloads/Xcode_26.xip
    3.2 GB /Users/jamie/Downloads/Ubuntu-24.04.iso
    1.8 GB /Users/jamie/Downloads/dataset-images.zip
$ cadastre trash ~/Downloads/Xcode_26.xip \
    --reason "Installer, Xcode is installed"

Moved 1 item to the Trash, 3.7 GB.

Private

Your files stay yours.

Cadastre has no account, no analytics and no servers, and it makes no network connections. It reads only the disks and folders you grant, and your scans stay on your Mac. Read the privacy policy.

Questions

What does Cadastre do?

Cadastre maps your disk so you can see which folders and files take the space, then helps you free it: caches, AI models, large old files, installers and build folders, and apps with every file they leave behind.

Can Cadastre delete something I need?

Cadastre never deletes anything outright. Everything you remove goes to the Trash, where Put Back works until you empty it. Every removal asks first and lists what moves, and Cadastre refuses the system, your home and Library folders, Documents, Desktop, keys and shell setup, and apps that are open.

How much does it cost?

$2.99, once, on the Mac App Store. There is no subscription and no in-app purchase.

Which Macs does Cadastre support?

Cadastre requires macOS 26 or later. It is sandboxed and reads only the disks and folders you grant. Full Disk Access is optional; it lets the map include what macOS protects, such as Mail and Messages.

Does Cadastre send my data anywhere?

No. Cadastre has no account, no analytics and no servers, and it makes no network connections. Your scans and settings stay on your Mac.

What is the command-line tool for?

AI agents and scripts can ask Cadastre what fills a folder, list apps and find what to clean, with JSON output. It is off until you turn it on, and anything it asks to remove waits for your click.

When can I get Cadastre?

Cadastre is coming to the Mac App Store. This page will link to it as soon as it is available.
